Reimagined floorplan brings new functionality
The southwest Minneapolis homeowners knew their location could not be beat. With a lush, heavily wooded backyard, complete with a creek, moving was not an option. However, the 1940s main floor layout no longer suited their needs. The retired couple enjoyed entertaining and hosting gatherings with family and friends, and the current space was inadequate. They were also planning ahead, wanting to create a space to accommodate single-level living. We worked closely with the architecture team to turn their aspirations into actuality. The significantly reconfigured floorplan, including a 100-square-foot addition, created a new living room space, bringing spaciousness and style to their beloved home. A new wall of windows captures the home’s stunning backdrop, while the custom fireplace and mantle set a warm, welcoming scene. A 150-square-foot addition to the back of the garage allowed us to expand the kitchen and create a laundry and pantry space. We added a built-in bench and eating nook in the kitchen and modified the cabinets to make room for a new refrigerator and freezer. The first-floor laundry and pantry brought new convenience and ample storage. The new home office provides a bright, cheery workspace, and the updated primary suite is the perfect cozy retreat. This thoughtfully reimagined main floor will effortlessly serve the homeowners’ needs for years to come.
