A new family-friendly floorplan

At first glance, this 1976 home, in a long-established St. Paul suburb, seemed to have ample space. But the original floorplan was not workable for this modern-day family. The owners collaborated with architects from Albertsson and Hansen Architecture to devise elegant, practical spaces that would better serve their family and easily blend with the home’s décor. This sizeable project called for reworking existing spaces and creating several new, functional areas within an airy, open floorplan. Our work on the first floor included reconfiguring the family room, creating a spacious new kitchen, a convenient mudroom with an adjacent powder room and office space, and all new flooring throughout. We created an owner’s en suite on the second floor, including a large bedroom and a luxurious bathroom spa. New windows were installed throughout the project, and custom cabinetry brought much-needed storage wrapped in sophisticated style. This active household now has plenty of room to suit a busy lifestyle, with a floorplan and amenities that will suit their family for years to come.
